(Sharpen your sword with this Tarot Page and gain the knowledge you need to truly grow)
The Page in the Tarot is the quintessential student. She is often depicted as a young woman or man holding whatever suit her (in my deck she is female) card represents to develop direct knowledge of it.
Though sometimes she symbolizes a child or young adult, she isn’t always literally a young person by age. The Page is more about maintaining a youthful, always inspired dedication to learning.
No matter what age you are, ignore that foolish adage that “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks”.
Holding up a sword in her hand, as if in lesson for battle, this Page is all about mental growth. She is leveling up her mind to prepare herself for greater things.
She wants to be knowledgeable and make good decisions. So whatever area of study she is embarking upon, know that she takes it seriously.
When a Page of swords appears in your deck, she is heralding a new area of study to develop mental capacities in the art of life, and even war (on a symbolic level).
But on the card, she is also looking behind her. Often, reflecting on our past or whatever influences are behind our decisions or circumstances is vital. It’s important to understand the factors that contribute to our present day thoughts and actions.
The thing to remember is that we don’t want to get too caught in past based thinking that we lose sight of the present. We also don’t want to lose motivation to pursue the future.
The Page could potentially represent an over thinker who makes a much bigger deal out of situations than is necessary. She also could be telling us that it’s imperative to heal and resolve our traumas and subconscious heart aches.
We have no control over the past, outside of how we look at it. And the swords inspire us to learn more effective ways of thinking about the past and using that knowledge for our future.
The Student card in the Carolyn Myss archetype deck is an even deeper look at the Page type character. The Student is an aspect of all of us.
