Give Yourself Permission to Be Confident
(Learn about the confidence hidden in the 9 of cups Tarot card and why you deserve to feel that way.)
Did you know that it’s okay to be proud of yourself. For whatever reason, low self esteem seems to be wrapped not only in feeling bad about ourselves, but in not just giving ourselves the permission to feel good about who we are.
It’s almost like, when we try to feel good about ourselves, or when we try to project a positive image of ourselves we’re either met with our own imposter syndrome or someone else’ discomfort with our change.
On the 9 of cups cards, there is a man sitting on a chair wearing pajamas, as if he just jumped out of bed with an aha moment. Behind him on a table sit 9 cups. The assumption is that they are full because he has a smug smile on his face, with his arms folded in satisfaction.
You know, I don’t have a problem with cocky people, as long as it’s based in authentic confidence. The problem I have is that people feel the need to stifle that confidence, whether it’s in themselves or others.
I know what it’s like to have to work really hard to build up my own self esteem. I know that clown called imposter syndrome too well. As a black person, and as a woman, I feel that inner and outer assault on my confidence all the time.
