Learning to Be Honest with Ourselves

The development of a new attitude of happiness and appreciation is a choice we make. It’s not just a choice to see everything through rose colored lens, however. We come go Earth to experience conflict and contrast so we can transform it.
Because of that, we have to be willing to accept that the positive and negative both exist. We will experience ups and downs, highs and lows. Things won’t always feel so good. It’s best that we can accept that instead of resisting it.
I’m not saying not to be positive about life. Far from that. I believe that we should find whatever perspective about our lows that keep us productive and strong. It’s just that we need to be real.
Sometimes being real means looking at the patterns happening around us that are alerting us to woes to be cautious of. If you’ve been living long enough, just like me, you’ve had a relationship or two that wasn’t right for you. Warning signs may have been flashing right before your eyes, but just like I did, maybe you have also ignored them.
When we are afraid of losing some illusion that we think we need, we are likely to suppress the facts about a person or thing. That lover might not be the best for us, but we don’t want to be alone. That habit…
