Reasons to Love Yourself
(…and why it’s delusional not to)
My life journey has been wholly devoted to learning to love myself. I really think that it’s everyone’s divine mission in existence, to learn how to do that. When we can love ourselves, we can resolve inner conflict, resolve trauma and treat ourselves and others better.
For some people that task is harder than for others. We’re not taught how to love ourselves in school and we’re surrounded by a society of many people who don’t. For the most part, we are taught to forego self love to achieve some level of external validation, making it harder to love ourselves when we decide it’s time to.
I hope that this article sheds some light on what self love is, how to enact it, and the delusions that we often believe that actually prevent self love.
What is self love?
I believe that self love is a process of making choices and statements that affirm our happiness and our highest good. When we execute that process consistently, self loves becomes a habit. That habit creates a frequency that feels much better for us and draws better circumstances to us. It isn’t about reaching a goal that is acceptable to others or achieving some end goal outside of ourselves. It’s all an internal thing.
