If You Want to Know What Water Means Spiritually, Read This
(Breaking down the spiritual element of water, and it’s Tarot counterpart, the cups/ chalice)
In ancient mythology throughout the world, water has always represented regeneration, rejuvenation and transformation.
The waters as the place where life began
In many pantheons, the water was compared to wombs. The energy that creates life and art is sexual in nature, which is why water often corresponds to sex.
In many creation stories in ancient world mythology, the idea that water predated creation itself is common.
It’s a symbolic water, the fluid cohesion of the waters of darkness, the waters of pure spirit.
The emotional side of water
In the Tarot deck, water corresponds to the cups/ chalices, or the hearts in the playing card deck. Therefore, water is deeply connected to emotions.
Think about how many rituals from religions and spiritual systems take place near water.
In many indigenous world cultures, weddings and even baptisms (a symbolic reference to being cleansed of the old and made anew) took place near natural springs.
