Things I Wish Christians Would Stop Saying to Me
(Exploring some of the offensive things Christians might want to consider not saying to Non-Christians)
I have been detached from organized religion for about 10 years. But only on a personal level. In Western nations, one is never really detached from organized religion because most, like the United States, are Christian.
That is perfectly fine with me. I personally believe that people should be free to choose the spiritual path that is best for them. Living in their own skin, dealing with their own life situations, I think people can gauge what’s best for themselves spiritually.
I’ll be quite honest. When I first left Christianity, I made some pretty presumptuous faux pas in conversation. I was so gung ho with knowledge after doing extensive research into the religion. I felt it my business to take up the charge to educate everyone else on what I had discovered. I thought I was “saving” people from what I thought was a grave collective error.
But I realized how foolish that was. Who was I to tell anyone what to believe or why? I made spiritual choices best for me and my sanity and so does everyone else.
I decided that maybe avoiding religious conversations altogether was best. The problem is that I almost can’t.
