Clarine waited by her cell phone being charged on her dresser. Her anxiety was off the charts as she awaited a call from her agent, Kia, with whether or not…
“Ouch!” she squealed, biting her finger as she tried to chew on a mini chocolate bar. She would often turn to sweets to soothe any shot nerves.
Then it rang, with the sound of “Buddy” by DeLaSoul as the ringtone. She threw the candy bar across the room and bouced from her bed to the dresser to grab her phone.
“Hello? Hey Kia! Wha… what did you hear?”
She ran towards the opposite wall to grab the candy bar that she hadn’t fully calmed herself with yet.
“Really?” she asked, her heart crushed, almost to a point of numbness.
…
“Clarine, you gotta get up,” pleaded Devin, her boyfriend of 6 months, friend of 19 years. He leaned a cup of coffee under her nose hoping it would arouse a bit of energy.
She sulked, throwing a dramatic arm over her forehead. “I can’t! I’ll never move from his bed. I shall never see the light of the sun aga…”
The rays of the sun burst threw her window as Shaun yanked the curtain open to lighten up…
